Flamed Granite
Flamed or thermo granite is a particular type of granite finish that requires different care than polished granite. While flamed and thermo granites are hard materials, the finishes are porous and need to be properly sealed. There are several different types of sealers available, but the most popular types are penetrating or topical sealers.
The important thing to remember when sealing flamed or thermo granite is to use a sealer that allows to the stone to breathe naturally. Topical coatings can seal the stone so it cannot “breath,” which ultimately results in problems with the stone.
